The Absolute Best Tamales in Broomfield

The Absolute Best Tamales in Broomfield

Tamales in Broomfield aren’t a side dish. They’re the main event.

This town runs on green chili, and the places that do it right earn loyal followings you can see in the lunch rush. You’ll find everything from a family-run New Mexican spot that smothers its plates in slow-building heat to a Westminster holdover whose pork stays so moist you’ll wonder how they bother with anything else.

I’ve eaten my way through the strip malls and the standalone counters, and one thing is clear: consistency is rare. A single dry bite can sink a place.

These six hold up. Some excel at breakfast, others at late-night convenience, but all of them respect the masa.

Here’s where to go.

Authentic New Mexican style cuisine
Friendly, hardworking family service
Green chili smothered tamale plates
Clean restaurant, worth repeat visits
Best chili relleno burrito in town

Tamale Kitchen Broomfield sets the bar for New Mexican style in the area. The family running it works hard, and it shows in the clean room and the consistent plates. I came for tamales and stayed for the green chili smothered versions, which arrive hot and properly sauced. The pork inside stays moist, and the chili has a slow heat that builds without dominating. I also tried their chili relleno burrito, and it is honestly the best in town. That is not faint praise. The service is friendly without hovering. I have already planned a second visit, and likely a third. This place earns repeat business on quality alone.

Highlights
Group dining handled gracefully
Breakfast served all day
Distinctive ranchero egg preparation
Moist, flavorful steak gorditas
Complimentary agua fresca refills

Limon & Sal handled our group of eight without a hiccup, which is rare. The breakfast menu runs all day, and that is a practical advantage. Their ranchero eggs come with a preparation that stands apart, lightly crisped at the edges with a sauce that tastes homemade. The steak gorditas were the surprise win. Moist meat, thick masa, and enough seasoning to keep me eating past full. They also refill the agua fresca without asking, which is a small courtesy that lands big. This is not the flashiest spot in Broomfield, but it is reliable and generous. I would return for the gorditas alone.

Steak quesadilla earns regular visits
Breakfast burritos draw monthly repeat business
Green chili consistently on point
Taco pricing undercuts stated menu value

La Casa Del Burrito does not try to impress you with decor. It impresses with execution. The steak quesadilla is the reason I keep coming back. It is grilled properly, with cheese melted all the way through and meat that is not chewy. Their breakfast burritos pull monthly repeat visits from me, and the green chili is consistently on point, with a roasted pepper depth that works on eggs and potatoes alike. I also noticed the taco pricing undercuts what is listed on the menu, which is a rare and welcome surprise in this economy. No frills, just solid food and fair value. That is enough for me.

Highlights
Fast, warm, thorough service
Green chili mac and cheese
Generous portions, great value
Chef Joel's stuffed chimi relleno
Friendly staff, playful decor

Buenos Tiempos gets the service part right immediately. Fast, warm, and thorough, they make you feel like a regular on the first visit. The green chili mac and cheese is worth the trip alone, creamy with a real kick underneath. Portions are large enough that I skipped dinner, and the price felt honest for what arrived. Chef Joel's stuffed chimi relleno is a serious creation, crunchy outside, molten inside, and filled with enough meat to justify the name. The staff is friendly and the decor is playful without being noisy. This is a place I would recommend to anyone looking for comfort food with a bit of ambition.

Highlights
Moist green chili pork
Freshly made daily
Worth a try
Great taco sides
24-hour convenience

Tamale Kitchen Westminster runs on a 24-hour schedule, and that convenience matters when the craving hits late. The green chili pork is notably moist, not dry or stringy like some places serve. They make everything fresh daily, and you can taste the difference in the masa. The tamales themselves are solid, but the taco sides are the sleeper pick. Crisp shells, well-seasoned meat, and a salsa that has actual character. It is not the most refined spot, but it does not need to be. Worth a try if you are in the area. I would stop here again for a late meal without hesitation.

Highlights
Huge portions, low prices
Authentic flavors, quick service
Worth a larger tip
Easy to split portions

Evan's Cafe gives you a lot for very little money. The portions are huge, easily split between two people, and the prices are low enough that I left a larger tip out of principle. The flavors are authentic and direct, nothing overworked or fussy. Service is quick, which matters when you are on a lunch break. I ordered a tamale plate and got enough food for a day and a half. The masa was soft, the filling was savory, and the chili had a home-cooked simplicity. This is not a place for culinary theatrics. It is a place for honest food that fills you up and treats your wallet right.

Best green chili taste
Amazing flavor, instant favorite
Large portions, very cheap
Perfect for budget diners
California-approved Mexican quality

Chico's Mexican Food is my instant favorite for green chili. The taste is the best I have found in Broomfield, with a roasted, slightly smoky profile that I have not matched anywhere else nearby. Portions are large and the prices are very cheap, which makes it a perfect stop for budget diners who still want quality. The tamales are wrapped well, steamed properly, and hold their shape without falling apart. The flavor is California-approved, which is a real compliment coming from me. It is not fancy. It does not need to be. I left full, satisfied, and already planning my next order. This place gets the highest rank in my book.
